To celebrate World Environment Day, Norwich Carbon Reduction Trust is distributing its new poster designed to remind people to take a reusable bag with them when they go shopping. Rachael Trezise Development Officer with the Norwich Carbon Reduction Trust says ‘The Plastic Bag Free Day in March organised by the Norwich Carbon Reduction Trust showed how the people of Norwich could pull together and make a difference. Shops such as John Lewis reported a rise in sales of reusable bags as well as a drop in the number of plastic bags taken by customers so we hope shoppers will remember to take a bag with them whenever they go out.’
Brenda Arthur, Chair of the Norwich Carbon Reduction Trust, says ‘Each carrier bag takes up to 500 years to break down in landfill so we hope that all people who work in shops will also ask customers if they really need that plastic bag.’
Over the next few months the Norwich Carbon Reduction Trust will be providing information on up and coming events on their website www.ncrt.org.uk Contact via the website to have a copy of the double sided poster sent to you.
