Join the Big Switch Off for Earth Hour – 3s1t March

Businesses and public organisations across Norwich are invited to join a big lighting switch-off on 31st March to highlight the challenge of climate change.

Norwich Carbon Reduction Trust, Norwich City Council and Chapelfield Shopping Centre are working with other local organisations to make a big splash for Earth Hour this year. They are inviting businesses and public buildings to switch their lights off between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

Earth Hour is a global event started by South Norfolk resident and patron of ncrt , Andy Ridley. It encourages people to think about living in a more sustainable manner. Last year 125 countries took part and international landmarks switching off their lights included Big Ben, the Empire State Building and the pyramids.

See www.earthhour.wwf.org.uk  for more details.

In Norwich, businesses, public bodies and community organisations can make sure they turn off any floodlights and internal lighting not needed for safety and security. Restaurants can offer romantic candle-lit dinners for the night – check this is covered by your insurance first.

ncrt will be publicising all the organisations which participate on the night.
