Go Green - Chapelfield Shopping Centre

You have heard what the experts have to say; now it is your turn to come up with top tips for reducing carbon.

As part of Chapelfield Shopping Centre's four-day Go Green event, which starts tomorrow, the Norwich Carbon Reduction Trust (NCRT) is inviting people to cut out the footprint published here, add their top tip and take it along to be displayed on an enviro wall.

Rachael Trezise, NCRT development officer, said: "NCRT is delighted to be continuing their programme of events by working with Chapelfield at their Go Green event.

"Retailers in Norwich were hugely supportive of the NCRT with the Plastic Bag Free Day and it is great to see Chapelfield using their facilities to give shoppers and their families more information on the environment.

"Chapelfield has several initiatives to minimise its carbon footprint and NCRT's aim is to reduce Norwich's carbon emissions," she said.

"One of the ways we can do this is by sharing tips both large and small which help protect the environment.

"So, if EDP readers will fill in their tips on the footprint, take it along to the information desk in Chapelfield, we will add as many tips as possible to the NCRT wall for all to see and hopefully implement in their homes and businesses."

Go Green is being held to involve and engage shoppers in a range of issues and to encourage people to save energy and take responsibility for the amount of waste produced and thrown away daily.

Sophie Hallett, marketing manager at Chapelfield, said: "Over the four days we want to bring information to people of all ages; from young kids to older adults, in a way that is not just informative, but engaging and fun.

"The number of people we have in the centre daily means the message to Go Green is easily accessible for lots of people to take away with them," she said.

"Even the smallest change in lifestyle habits can make a big difference, and we want to help highlight that."

Last year, Chapelfield recycled 48pc of its waste and there are free electric and hybrid-car charging points located in the car park.

Go Green is also supported by the Energy Saving Trust, Pearsons (Thetford) Ltd, Deepdale Farm, Sun Wind and Rain and others.

Guest contributors will be in the centre each day offering advice and information, together with free low-energy lightbulbs.
